𖦹 about
I graduated Artez University of the Arts with a bachelor in Illustration Design. My graduation exposition was called Naturalia. It joined together ceramics, textile, soundscape and drawings. In walking through the large drawings, a story about two collectors and their objects arises. This story becomes more clear in the risoprinted zine of the same name as the exposition; Naturalia.
The word ‘naturalia’, is the term used to describe objects found in nature in 1800s curiosity cabinets. My fascination for collecting and my love for scavenging at the beach prompted this new collection of sound, image and objects.
In Naturalia, I tried to take the viewer along in my appreciation for small moments and objects. I love standing still and giving time to a breeze tickling my cheek, a miniscule crab in the sand, the way in which the sun breaks in the trees, finding a stone and giving it an altar. My graduation exposition was a love letter to these moments, with a focus on beach finds.
