second print run: 2025

this zine is a publication i made for my graduation expo of the same name. ever since i first learned about risoprint, i fell in love with the texture and method. after 3 years, i realized my dream of making a full-colour risoprint zine. i wrote, drew and published it myself. the first edition of 20 sold out at the artez finals, and i am publishing a second edition at the end of february 2025. being involved with the printing process, and learning everything i could about the printer, how it works and what you could do with was extremely rewarding. i am very proud of what i accomplished, and it has only made me want to publish, write and print more!

the text on the letter the women find is a poem i wrote called ‘i wish i was stepping in a jellyfish’.

I wish i was stepping in a jellyfish

As your feet touch the soup we call it [sea]

this concoction

sweltering, smooth, rising, whispering, screaming, napping

as you touch the water, living,

the human in you [as you envisioned them]

shrinks

until this envisioned small human rumbles somewhere closer to the ground,

maybe it jangles in your big toe

maybe it ended up in your fingertips

“but what is left of me? what am i now?” , this small human wonders

“what of my specialty coffee? what will happen to my mortgage? i just finished writing my thesis but still have to hand it in! my pet rabbit must be taken care of!”

well

it takes care of itself   [or so i hope]
for this while or lifetime or minute or however long you choose to be homogenous with your original amniotic fluid.

maybe you will grow some fins
maybe you will find a magical shell and turn into foam

maybe you will find a piece of what is seemingly a rock from the stomach of a sperm whale and earn a million dollars and live out your days thanking the sea for its gifts

maybe the wind will gently kiss your cheeks

maybe you will get shat on by a gull

or step on what you first think is a plastic bag, but turns out to be a fish made of jelly (one of those with the long strings at the end of them)

this is the charm of the whole thing
at least try to see it [if not for you, for me]

[i wish i was stepping in a jellyfish]
